Raymond Hinds, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Tulelake, Calif., on April 24, 2024. He looked forward to his heavenly home with his Lord. Raymond was born Sept. 29, 1941, in McGee, Missouri to Sherman Hinds and Lillie (Barks) Hinds. His family, including brothers Lymond and Robert, moved to Tulelake when Raymond was about 6 years old. After finishing school in Tulelake, he married Carrie White and they welcomed 3 children, Deedee, Kenny and Debbie. In November of 1980 he married Carol Gallup and joined her two sons, Mark and Reid Gallup, to his family. In his youth, Raymond worked farm related jobs then worked construction in the Klamath area. Later, he worked in maintenance for the Tulelake School District, retiring after 22 years in 2006. After retirement, Raymond and Carol, along with their dog Sparkie, enjoyed many trips with their RV. Raymond's favorite trips were to Death Valley National Park. Raymond will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be sorely missed. Raymond loved the Lord and was a Sunday School teacher when his children were growing up. He enjoyed reading his Bible and his church was important to him. Raymond is survived by his wife Carol Hinds, Tulelake, Calif.; and his first wife Carrie Morris, Springfield, Missouri. Sons Kenneth (Dawn) Hinds, Gardnerville, Nevada; Reid (Joaquin) Gallup, Reno, Nevada. Daughters Deedee (Ron) Denney, Gardnerville, Nevada; Debbie (Ted) Woodhouse, Merrill, OR. Daughter-in-law Doris Gallup, Malin, Ore. Grandchildren Hesston Gallup, Malin; Hannah (Joe) Malson, Parma, Idaho; Cidney (Doug) DeForest, Carson City, Nevada; Audrey (Graham) Heinan, Gardnerville, Nevada. Great-grandchildren Hagen and Levi Heinan, Odessa and Huxton Malson, Owen and Avery DeForest and brother-in-law Clifford Mills, Vermillion, Ohio. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lymond and Robert Hinds, granddaughter Lindsey Trelease and son Mark Gallup. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Tulelake First Baptist church, with a potluck following. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tulelake Fire Department.
