A new eatery has cropped up in Klamath Falls: Sizzlin’ Downtown Buffet.

Inspired after the closing of a Sizzler restaurant located on South Sixth Street and other buffets in the area, owner Elizabeth Cisneros said it was time to bring them back.

“What’s better than all you can eat?” she said.

The buffet, Cisneros said, will be alternating various international cuisines such as Mexican, Italian, Chinese and American, as well as featuring specialty dinner nights with mentions of featured prime rib buffet nights and seafood buffet nights — all of which will be announced beforehand on the Sizzlin’ Downtown Buffet Facebook page.

“We are very open to suggestions from people about our offerings on the buffet line,” Cisneros said. “We are here to serve and provide a dining experience that the community would like to go to and eat with their families.”

There is a revamped menu based on old favorites from the former El Palacio Mexican Restaurant — the location of Sizzlin Downtown Buffet — mixed with soon-to-be favorites such as steak dishes, burger options and lobster plates. Sizzlin Downtown Buffet offers a 10 percent discount for military, seniors and first responders, and children under 5 eat for free. There is even a punch card given to diners at no additional cost that gives the 10th visit free.

“Those who are familiar with me,” Cisneros said, “know I care deeply about the community, and that whatever I do, I give my all toward it.”

Cisneros said that more equipment to increase the buffet lines and level of service has been ordered and that it was decided to start small to “learn the system” — the timing and amount of food preparation.

“We’ve been used to menu-style all these years, so we are still learning the ins and outs,” she said.

A visitor of the buffet, Keane Tupper, when asked if he was going to go through the line again said, “I can’t. I’m too full.”

“The food is very good, so I’ll definitely be back in the future,” Tupper said.

Sizzlin Downtown Buffet is all-you-can-eat beginning at 11 a.m. daily. During lunch hours, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the cost is $12.95, and during dinner hours, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. the cost is $15.95. Kids 5 to 10 years old always eat for 10.95
